What you get with Surfshark
Every Surfshark plan runs on the same VPN. Starter, the cheapest, includes:
- Unlimited devices connected at the same time
- 4,500+ servers in 100 countries
- Split tunnelling, so only the apps you pick go through the VPN
- An ad and cookie-popup blocker
- Alternative ID, a stand-in name and email for sign-ups you don't trust
Split across a family of four, Starter's two-year price works out to about 62 cents each a month.
One adds Surfshark Antivirus with real-time scanning and webcam protection, breach alerts, and an email and SMS scam checker. One+ goes further with Incogni, which files deletion requests with data brokers on your behalf, plus identity theft cover for eligible US customers.
Surfshark plans and prices
Two-year prices are as listed on Surfshark's pricing page on 4 October 2026, in US dollars. Renewal prices sit in the checkout terms rather than on that page, and the ones above are from September 2026, so confirm yours before you pay.
Monthly billing was $16.45 for Starter in September, more than six times the two-year rate, so it only makes sense as a short test. The full Surfshark pricing breakdown covers every term, including the 12-month plans.
How to pay less for Surfshark
Buy the two-year term. It's the cheapest per month on every plan, and the 30-day refund window covers the whole payment if the VPN doesn't work with your apps or your bank.
Choose the tier by what you'd pay for anyway. On the two-year term One costs $0.30 a month more than Starter, so if you'd otherwise buy antivirus, One is the cheaper route. One+ earns its price if you want data-broker removal: Incogni bought alone was $7.99 a month on annual billing when we checked in September, more than the whole One+ plan.
Paying with an Indian card? Surfshark bills in dollars, so expect your bank's foreign-transaction markup, usually 2 to 3.5%, plus GST on that markup.
Then put the renewal date in your calendar a couple of months early, and compare a fresh two-year plan with your renewal quote before the card is charged. It's the same habit that catches unused SaaS subscriptions.
Who Surfshark is for
Surfshark fits households and anyone running a VPN on lots of devices, since no plan limits connections. Starter on the two-year term is the right buy for most people. The extras on One and One+ only pay off if you'd otherwise pay for antivirus or data removal.
Skip it if you need a physical server in India. Surfshark shut its Indian servers in June 2022 rather than comply with the CERT-In logging rules, and its virtual India location runs on machines in other countries. Streaming and geo-restricted sites work normally, but latency is higher than a local server would give you.
Judge any Surfshark coupon on four years, not on the banner price. Counting the renewal, Starter averages about $4.28 a month over that stretch, and for unlimited devices that's still good value.
