Overview
You can browse stores, reveal codes and use every feature of Coupo9 without telling us who you are. We designed the product so that personal data is unnecessary for it to work, and this policy reflects that: the signals we do collect are aggregated, anonymised, and used only to keep offers accurate.
What we collect
- Coupon usage signals— reveals, outbound clicks and “did it work?” feedback. On the website these are keyed to a hashed, rotating session identifier; in the extension and app they are keyed to a random identifier generated on install. Neither is linked to you. These power the success rates shown on every offer.
- Aggregate traffic data — page views, referrers, device class and country, used to understand what content is useful.
- Anything you email us — if you contact support, we keep the correspondence for as long as it takes to resolve the issue.
What we don't collect
- No accounts, passwords or personal profiles.
- No names, phone numbers or postal addresses.
- No purchase details — your checkout happens on the store's site, not ours.
- No selling or renting of data to third parties, ever.
- No cross-site advertising trackers or fingerprinting.
Browser extension
The address of the page you are on never leaves your device. This is the most important thing to understand about the extension, so it is worth stating plainly: we cannot see your browsing history, because it is never sent to us.
The extension downloads our list of stores (name, logo and website address) once and caches it in your browser for up to 24 hours. When you open it, it reads the address of your active tab and matches it against that cached list locally, inside your browser. Only if a store matches does it request that store's coupons from our server, and that request identifies the store, not you and not the page you were on.
What the extension stores on your device:
- the cached store list, refreshed daily;
- your display preference (grid or list layout);
- a randomly generated identifier, created on install, used only to stop the same install voting twice on the same coupon. It is not linked to your name, email, IP-based identity or browsing history.
Uninstalling the extension deletes all of it. The extension injects no code into the pages you visit and does not read page content, form fields or anything you type. Our own backend is the only host it contacts.
Android app
The Android app reads the same public catalogue as the website and requires no account, no sign-in and no email address. It records the same anonymous counters described above (a code was revealed, a code was voted working or not working) against a random identifier generated on install.
It does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, photos, microphone or files. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on your device.
Permissions we request
- Browser tabs(extension) — to read the active tab's address so we can identify the store. Used on your device only, never transmitted.
- Local storage (extension and app) — to hold the cached store list, your layout preference and the anonymous identifier.
- Side panel (extension) — to offer the optional docked panel view, which you open deliberately.
- Network access to our own backend — to fetch coupons. No other host is contacted.
We do not request broad access to all websites, and the extension contains no content scripts.
Cookies & analytics
We use a small number of functional cookies (for example, remembering your light/dark theme choice and your grid/list view preference). Analytics, where enabled, are privacy-friendly and configured to respect your region's consent requirements. Blocking cookies will not break the site.
Outbound & affiliate links
When you click an offer, you may pass through an affiliate tracking link before reaching the store. That link tells the merchant the visit came from Coupo9; it does not carry personal information from us. Once you are on the merchant's site, their privacy policy applies — see our affiliate disclosure for how this funds the site.
Data retention
Aggregated usage statistics are retained indefinitely because they contain nothing personal. Hashed session identifiers rotate and are not linkable back to a person. Support emails are deleted when no longer needed.
Your rights & deletion
Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and similar laws), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Because we hold almost none, most requests are satisfied instantly.
Deleting your data. Uninstalling the browser extension or the Android app removes everything stored on your device, including the cached store list and the anonymous identifier. Since there is no account, there is no personal profile for us to erase. If you would still like the anonymous usage records associated with your install removed, or you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, write to hello@coupo9.com and we will handle it.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change what we collect, we will update this page and the “last updated” date above. We will never quietly start collecting personal data under an old policy.
