Free keeps your passwords, Premium keeps you logged in
NordPass Free isn't stingy on storage. It holds unlimited passwords, syncs them, autosaves and autofills, supports multi-factor authentication, and installs on as many devices as you like. The limit is sessions: NordPass's help centre says Free "only allows users to have one active session on one device," so moving from laptop to phone means logging in again.
Premium lifts that limit and adds the security extras:
- secure sharing of passwords and other items
- Password Health, which flags weak, old and reused passwords
- the Data Breach Scanner and Email Masking
- File Attachments, with 3 GB per user
- Emergency Access
Family gives six people their own Premium account and encrypted vault under one subscription. Every vault uses xChaCha20 encryption, and the apps cover Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS and the major browsers.
One quirk before you buy: NordPass says you can't switch from Premium to Family directly. It takes a support request, so pick the plan that fits from the start.
NordPass prices per term, and what they renew at
Prices as listed on NordPass's plans page on 4 October 2026, in US dollars before VAT. Renewal prices are from Nord's renewal price list for the United States, seen the same day.
There's no monthly personal plan; the page's 1-month tab says "Business plans only." The 27-month totals include three bonus months, which NordPass adds only after the 30-day refund window passes and only on 2-year plans bought before 9:00 CET on 21 October 2026.
Which code fits which plan, and when Nord renews
Use each code on the plan it names. NordPass's published codes are narrow:
- gladyoufoundthis: one extra month on a 2-year Premium plan
- STUDENT10: 10% off 2-year Premium for students, grads and teachers
- NPFALL26: 10% off new annual Business or Enterprise plans for 5 or more users, until 31 October 2026
None of them covers Family, so if a code is rejected, check which plan is in your cart. Our guide to why coupon codes fail at checkout covers the other causes.
Take the 2-year term. It gives 27 months of Premium for $37.53; the 1-year plan costs $23.88 and then renews at $35.88, so two years that way come to $59.76.
Share when you can. Two people already pay less on one 2-year Family plan ($67.23) than on two Premium plans ($75.06).
Put the renewal in your calendar. Nord renews plans of a year or longer one year at a time, sends a reminder with the price 30 days before charging, and charges 14 days before the new period starts. Cancel auto-renewal in your Nord Account before then. The 30-day refund covers your first purchase only.
Who should buy Premium, Family or nothing at all
No NordPass promo code fixes the wrong plan, so match the plan to the people first.
Buy 2-year Premium if you're one person with a phone and a laptop. Staying logged in on both is the main thing Free withholds, and gladyoufoundthis adds a month, or STUDENT10 takes 10% off if you qualify.
Buy 2-year Family as soon as a second person needs a vault. It's cheaper than two Premium plans, each member keeps a private vault, and $67.23 split six ways is about $11.21 each for 27 months.
Stay on Free if you genuinely use one device, or don't mind logging in again when you switch.
Skip the 1-year plan: it costs more a month and renews at the same price as the 2-year.
Already pay for NordVPN or plan to? NordPass says you can add it to a bundle from your Nord Account, and our NordVPN page lists its current offers.
Take the 2-year term and enter gladyoufoundthis as your NordPass promo code at checkout.
