Where Grammarly Free stops and Plus or Pro takes over
Grammarly Free fixes spelling and grammar mistakes, shows the tone of what you've written and gives you 100 AI prompts a month. If typos are your only problem, stop there.
Plus, the India plan, and Pro share the same core features:
- full-sentence rewrites and one-click tone adjustments
- plagiarism and AI-generated text detection
- 2,000 AI prompts a month instead of 100
- teams of up to 149 members, with style guides, brand tones, snippets and usage analytics
So what separates them? Grammarly's help centre puts it down to "customer support prioritization and purchase eligibility". Plus is listed with basic customer support, and you can only buy it when your payment method and billing country qualify. Pro comes with Superhuman Go, an AI assistant, built in. Grammarly is now part of Superhuman, a suite that also includes Coda and Superhuman Mail.
Both run across more than 1 million apps and sites, from Google Docs and Word to Gmail, Outlook and Slack. Enterprise sits above them with unlimited prompts, SAML single sign-on and data loss prevention, sold through Grammarly's sales team.
What Grammarly charges in rupees and in dollars
Plus prices as listed on Grammarly's plans page, viewed from India, on 4 October 2026, in Indian rupees. Pro prices as listed on Grammarly's Pro page and its Pro pricing help article on 4 October 2026, in US dollars.
Grammarly doesn't publish a separate renewal price. Its billing policy says a plan "renews at the standard rate", and none of the prices above is a promo rate, so they're what you'd renew at. Two quirks: the plans page changes with your location, and Grammarly may add tax at checkout based on your billing address. Quarterly Plus exists too, but the plans page doesn't show its price.
SheerID, yearly billing and the codes to ignore
Term length does most of the work. Twelve months of Pro at $30 cost $360, while the annual plan is $144. Quarterly billing sits in between at $240 a year.
Grammarly's published discount for individuals runs through SheerID. Its help centre says eligible users "can save up to $72 (50% off) on Grammarly Pro", and lists students, graduate students, educators, military, first responders, healthcare workers, seniors and young adults. Verification can take up to seven business days, then a promo link arrives by email. Read the limits first: one subscription period only, first seat only, no App Store or Google Play purchases, no stacking. Plus can't take it at all.
At university? If your school holds a Grammarly for Education license, sign in through your school's login or sign up with your school email, and Grammarly should prompt you to join it.
Ignore the code sites. Grammarly says a promo code found online "is not a promotional offer from Grammarly" (more on why coupon codes fail at checkout). Its occasional promotions go to some email subscribers, so opt in to special-offer emails on your Profile page.
Buy Plus in India, half-price Pro if you qualify, or stay on Free
Indian writers who use English every day should buy Plus on the annual plan. Grammarly itself says Plus sells "at a lower regional price than Grammarly Pro", and basic support is a fair trade for that. One wrinkle: Plus isn't open to anyone already paying for Premium, Pro, Business or Grammarly for Education, so let the current plan run out first.
Students and educators should check for a school license, then take half-price Pro through SheerID on the annual plan. In India, compare that checkout total with Plus before paying. Put the renewal date in your calendar either way: year two bills at the standard rate, and refunds only come where the law requires them (how to avoid paying for unused subscriptions).
Teams of up to 149 people belong on Pro, or Plus in India, billed yearly. Promo discounts cover only the first seat, so for a team the billing term is the lever.
Mostly want typos caught? Free does that. Skip monthly billing unless you need Grammarly for a month or two: three monthly Pro payments cost $90, a quarter costs $60. Choose by country and status, pay yearly, and stop hunting for a Grammarly coupon code that Grammarly says doesn't exist.
